How Recent Policy Changes Affect Brazil Nationals

Policy Alert: 75-country immigrant visa pause

This information reflects current policy as of early 2026. Immigration policy can change. Consult with an attorney for the most current information.

Recent executive actions have affected immigration processing for Brazil nationals. As of January 2026, immigrant visa processing for Brazilian nationals has been indefinitely paused under the 75-country immigrant visa suspension. This affects new immigrant visa applications from Brazil but does not affect nonimmigrant visas or those already in the United States with eligible status. While these restrictions create challenges, several immigration services remain available for Brazilian individuals already in the United States. Understanding your options is essential.

Services Still Available

For Brazilian individuals already living in Florida, several immigration services remain available: Adjustment of Status (if eligible), K-1 Fiancé Visa (nonimmigrant — status uncertain), Employment Authorization. Each case depends on individual circumstances, current immigration status, and eligibility for specific relief. Our office evaluates each client's situation to identify the best available options.
